Franck Bragigand is born in 1971 in France. He studied at the Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten and lives and works in Amsterdam.
This artwork was part of Art Language, a solo exhibition by Bragigand in 2016. In this exhibition, he made a statement about art and painting.
After extensive research he achieved a new manner of painting and representing the world. This new system is based only on painted circles connecting colours, words and information. This enables him to paint any civilization, any history and any notion. He wants to show progress and evolution of concepts through paintings, which he calls 'paradigm painting'.
He has created an original language of coloured circles, often with words inside them: Art Language. Bragigand describes Art Language as a virtual deconstruction of the power of knowledge. His goal is to make the viewer think. Bragigand researches institutions, how man has designed and viewed the world from various disciplines, such as philosophy, religion, science, metaphysics, politics and economy. He tries to expose the underlying structures of our world through a careful examination of countless documents and to represent this in his paintings.
